Title: Abrasive Complexion Soap
Categories: Soap *
Yield: 1 2/3 lb

1 1/2cClean rendered tallow
1/2cCoconut oil
3/4cCold water
1/2tsWheat germ oil or vitamin E oil (external use)
1/4cLye flakes
1/2cLightly toasted bran, oatmeal or cornmeal
1/4tsOil of casia, sassafras or lavender (optional)

Melt coconut oil and tallow and set aside to cool. Stir lye into cold water until completely dissolved.

When lye and fat are lukewarm, add the lye slowly to the fat, stirring constantly. Continue to stir until the mixture begins to thicken. Add grain gradually, beating until it is distrubuted evenly throughout the saponified mass. The thickening process will be accelerated by the filler, so don't delay before adding it. Pour into molds.
